Paris and Le Tour de France

I took lots of pictures in Paris. Thus, there are two pages. The second page contains some sightseeing pictures and then quite a few Tour finale things.

On the way to our youth hostel we ran into some art school students that were making a movie. This was one of the actors.

This image should be relatively familiar to anyone who's been to the Louvre.

Michelle and Elissa navigate.

I don't know what other people think, but the Mona Lisa has never impressed me. Perhaps that's because I was never able to see it in its full glory, up close. Unforunately, I don't think that will ever happen. As a substitute, there's always the crowd of fifty people pushing and pulling to get their disposable cameras and flashes up to the four inch thick glass and snap that one picture which will make them famous. Instead, I stood back and tried to get a picture of the crowd.

I thought this sculpture was neat.

As was this mosaic.

Charlie with the headless statue.

Ahh!!! It's the green hat mob.

This was an amazingly realistic sculpture.

The roof was cool.

This is famous and beautiful; pardon me for not recalling the title and artist.

A miniature Sphinx.

Charlie discovers childhood toys with the parabolic microphone.

A far-off view of the Eiffel tower.

Michelle takes the route less travelled.

A view down the path.

We're closer to the tower.

Peter under the Champs Elysees sign.

The Arc de Triomphe. Note that the top edge of the Arc isn't fuzzy -- those are people.

The classic pose, with the Eiffel tower in the background.

This is the biggest traffic problem I have ever seen. Pedestrians all walk in underground pathways to cross. The picture looking up at the Arc was taken from the crosswalk visible in the very top of this frame.

Another picture of the Eiffel tower from the top of the Arc.

More fun with traffic.

Michelle in the classic pose.

Another classic picture. I think I've seen this one at least ten times on the web, all done better than mine.

Paintings came out fairly well.

Michelle walks in the museum.

La nuit étoilée, Arles

Michelle, again.

Museum interior.

Charlie and the Elephant.

A lowrider dog.

The Eiffel tower, again.

And again.

Michelle, trying to get that extra foot out of her fixed focal length camera.

Me, imitating her style.

Random microwave antennae.

These looked like Yagi's with radomes.

It's nice to lean over the edge.

A view of Paris from the tower.

Michelle.

More of Paris.

A close-up of the link antenna.

Looking over the edge again.

This is a view of Paris with the shadow of the tower visible.

There were lots of paddle antennae like these.

More of Paris.

And more antennae.

Me, sporting my LinuxFund t-shirt.

The river Seine and another antenna.

Charlie thinks I took this picture of him, and judging by how old she appears to be I think I'm going to start agreeing with him.

Some of the equipment running the elevator.

The next page has more pictures of Paris, including stuff from the Le Tour de France finale.
