2001_02_24_Alex_car_break-in

Since my car is gone for the moment, I had talked Alex into walking across campus to give me a ride to some hardware stores to pick up a few antenna construction parts. Alex lives on west campus, but has to park his car on east because parking was too busy whoring out student lots to drunk alumni paying $$$ to give him a permit within a mile of where he lives.

In any case, we headed out from my room to get to his vehicle, which was parked directly under a large light in Peter's parking deck (which will soon be turned into a lake, which is another story entirely). The transmissive qualities of the driver's window looked a little too good to me, and unfortunately we noticed within about a second that the window had in fact been broken out.

After the obligatory stream of verbal comments, we looked a little closer and discovered that the idiot had actually not managed to steal Alex's CD player. For whatever reason, the only thing that was actually missing was most of the change in the ashtray. The most maddening thing is that they used his racketball racket in the attempt to pry the stereo out, destroying the stereo and bending the handle of the racket at least 30°.
